    The 309 Small Business Initiative is a way for smaller local businesses to contribute to the United Way of Pekin without the larger, more formal campaign. We understand the challenges of running a smaller operation and how a traditional campaign could be a bit too much on your plate. This is a way to support our mission, your community and help those in need with a hand up.

  • BE ACTIVE AND HAVE A VOICE

    As a member of the Initiative, you will have the ability to participate in community action projects and/or a voice in the potential funding of small projects of need that align with the United Way focus areas of healthy communities, youth opportunity, financial security and community resiliency.

  • NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES

    There will be periodic meetings, events, and volunteer opportunities open to all members to network and connect with other small businesses around the community.

  • SHOW YOUR COMMUNITY SUPPORT

    All member companies will get access to this digital logo and a window decal to prominently display as long as they are a member of the initiative! This shows your community support and dedication to both customers and your staff to support those in the community who need a hand up.

Change Makers: $927+ Annually

Change maker membership includes all the membership perks of regular and partner for change membership plus, large logo placement, a yard sign and spotlight video.

Partners for Change: $618+ Annually

Partners for change members enjoy all the perks of regular membership plus small logo promotion and listing in our annual gratitude report.

By joining the 309 Small Business Initiative, you’ll become part of a community of like-minded small business owners and managers who contribute to the United Way mission in a new and unique way without the complicated “campaigns” of larger corporations.

You’ll make a difference through volunteer opportunities within the community alongside others who share your passion. As part of the organization, you’ll have opportunities to network and collaborate with key business and community leaders at exclusive events and contribute to special projects of need in the community.

Community impact projects

As an organization a vast majority of our annual expenses are to our grant recipients from our general fund. These are all long term, grant funded projects with huge community impacts.

We consistently see other potential projects that fit within our four impact areas of healthy communities, youth opportunity, financial security and community resiliency that wouldn’t either be large enough for a “typical” grant application process or are more time sensitive to meet the demands of our communities needs.

That is where the impact project fund, as part of the 309 Small Business Initiative steps in to help streamline, select and fund these in a quicker and more efficient manner. A portion of the annual revenue from membership in this initiative will be held in this fund to be used on projects that fit the selected parameters as voted upon by members.
